Clark Memorial School
Title 1 Parent Involvement
Policy
There is strong evidence that parental
involvement in a child’s education is vital for that child’s success in
school. The faculty and staff of Clark
Memorial School embrace the philosophy that it takes a whole community to raise
a child. We believe parents serve a very
important role in the decision-making process as we plan, implement, and
evaluate our programs at Clark Memorial.
All parents will be afforded the
opportunity to attend an Open House at the beginning of school. Appropriate personnel will discuss the Title
1 program and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing it. At this event, parents will be invited to
take an active role on the Advisory/Leadership Team that will meet regularly to
discuss issues and concerns of the Title 1 Program. Parents on the Advisory/Leadership Team will
be invited to participate in the system-wide Advisory Council that meets three
times a year.
Additionally, a parent/student/teacher
compact will be reviewed and signed by each party at the beginning of each
school year. Parent/Teacher Conferences
will be held once a year. If the need
arises for additional conferences, the teacher or parent may request this. Progress reports will be sent home on a
regular basis in order for parents to know how their child is doing and how
he/she is progressing.
Input from parents will be gathered at
the end of each school year by a Needs Assessment Survey. This will be compiled and issues will be
addressed at the beginning of the next school year.
We enjoy parents coming to Clark Memorial and we strive to
make them welcome. We truly believe it
takes a whole community to educate a child.
If parents and educators work together, children will ultimately achieve
success.
