Anger Management for Adults and Teens
Choice Based Anger Management is based on the simple assumption that anger is a choice and we choose our response to any person or situation.

Classes Beginning: October 10, 2007
 
 
 

Adult Computer Classes: Basic computer classes will be held weekly for any adult wishing to enhance their computer skills.

Beginning Date: October 2, 2007

 
 
 

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: The Grandparents Raising Grandchilden Support Group is available to any grandparent raising a relative's child or their own grandchild. this group is designed to provide a way for gradparents who are in similar situations with their granchildren to communicate and encourage each other. The number of children living under the primary care of a grandparent or other relative is on the rise. This poses many uniue and unexpected challenges for both grandparents and grandchildren. Many times both the primary caregivers as well as the children who find themselves in these circumstances may fell isolated as they face sensitive and sometimes confusing matters.

 

Group meets weekly on 2nd and 4th
Thursday from
5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

 
Beginning Sign Language Classes: Participants will be instructed in beginning sign language. Classes will begin: October 1, 2007
 

Parenting: Parenting skills are taught to parents referred by the Department of Children's Services, local churches, businesses, local court system ans self-motivated parents who are interested in obtaining strategies to empower and strengthen their families.

Teen Parenting: Teen or expecting moms will meet on a weekly basis to learn how to care for their newborn, infant, and/or toddler child. Local community health and childcare agencies will be called upon for assistance.

Parenting Beginning: September 25, 2007

Teen Parenting Classes begin: October 10, 2007

 
Beginning Sewing Classes: Participants will be guided in the beginning basics of sewing. Participants will learn how to cut out patterns, and operate a single needle sewing machine. Classes will begin: October 1, 2007
 

Social Skills/Life Skills: To equip children with the skills needed to function in social situations.
Objective: Children will learn how to recognize and relate to the feelings of others (empathy), manage emotions, and solve problems in social situations.
Desired Outcome: Children will show a decrease in antisocial behavior in a preschool setting, thus increasing the opportunity for children in Franklin county to receive a high quality education.
Life Skills for teens will be taught weekly at North Middle School, South Middle School, and Franklin county Alternative School.
Adult skills will be taught in financial management, nutrition, health and other need-based areas.
Groups will run six consecutive weeks and will serve an average of fifteen children.

Teen Health Beat Beginning: September 10, 2007

 

Tutoring: Elementary School students will recieve additional instruction from teachers, in the Franklin County School System, twice weekly to enhance adademic performance. Dates and Times TBA
 
 
Strengthening Families: The Strengthening Families Program is designed to help parents build on their strengths in showing love and setting limits. It helps youth develop skills in handling peer pressure and building a positive future. The program empowers families to grow together.

Teen Empowerment Group for Girls:
Girls will meet weekly to discuss ways of improving their self perception.
Girls Ages: 13-18
Beginning Date: October 24, 2007, Wednesday 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
 
 
 

Other Services (provided at Campora)

Salvation Army: The Franklin county Chapter of the Salvation Army is locted within the Family Resource Center. The Salvation Army assists families in times of crisis and despair. Open Monday-Friday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

21st Century Learning Center: The Community Learning Center transports 7th and 8th grade students form North and South Middle Schools to the Family Resource Center where they receive tutoring, enjoy enrichment activities, participate in planned arts and crafts, and field trips. Service Learning projects are also part of the afternoon learning experience.

St. Theresa's Ministry: St. Theresa's Ministry is located within the Family Resource Center. St. Theresa's Ministry assists families in times of need or crisis.
