Mission Statement
The mission of Franklin County High School is to challenge students to become well-balanced, productive citizens with effective communication skills, who make timely and responsible decisions and pursue learning for both academic and personal achievement. Teachers, parents, and community members will join forces to provide both the academic and environmental support necessary to foster and enhance every student’s innate ability to be a lifelong learner.
Beliefs
- Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs.
- All students learn best when they have appropriate opportunities for success and are actively engaged in the learning process.
- Developmentally appropriate learning activities, assessment, and evaluation enhance learning for all levels.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and student learning are enhanced by mutual respect between students and teachers.
- A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes learning.
- School pride and cohesiveness are strengthened when community, parents, school personnel, and students are active participants in the decision-making process and the implementation of policy.
- Students will have introduction into technology in a manner consistent with personal as well as educational enrichment.
- Students will be taught communication skills and techniques in order to enrich and accelerate developmental levels.
Learner Expectations-upon leaving this school - students are expected to:
- Have acquired the attitudes and responsibilities necessary to function in a demographic society: a sense of property, an understanding of the rights and ideas of others, and the ability to work well with others.
- Have acquired the necessary skills to prepare them for college, vocational training, or the job market.
- Have developed creativity in independent thought and study while demonstrating a degree of conformity and self-disipline.
- Be prepared to compete successfully in a highly technological society.
- Demonstrate skills in both verbal and non-verbal communication.
2006-07 Achievements
- The senior class was awarded over $2 million in scholarships.
- Initiated an Air Force ROTC program with exemplary success.
- The collision and repair department received NATEF certification in non-structural, structural, and paint and refinishing.
- Our Liralen Club earned the All-Commodore rating, the highest award given by the Tennessee High School Press Association.
- We had three commended scholars.

2006-07 Achievements
- Awarded the High School Citizen of the Year by Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.
- Placed 1st and 2nd in the Templeton Laws of Life writing contest.
- Voted Interact "Club of the Year" with one of our students awarded "Interacter of the Year".
- Awarded to one of our students the :Prudential Spirit of Community Award Top 10% in the state.
- A student in high school won the Duck River Essay contest.
- Awarded 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place winners in the Franklin County Math Contest.
- The Elementary Boys' Bastketball Team was the Franklin County Champions.
- A student was named the Toyota Community Scholars National Finalist.
Seniors at Huntland School were awarded over $700,000 in awards/scholarships.
